Laser
Hair Reduction :
Laser
treatment is a very effective method for hair reduction.
Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles
of hairs in active growth and converted to heat, damaging
the follicle and impeding further growth. Only thirty
percent of hair follicles are in active growth at any
one time, so a series of treatments are required to
get rid of the majority of unwanted hair.

Your
treatment program will be customized to your skin characteristics
and the region in which you wish to have hair removed.
Treatment is effective for all skin types with dark
hair, but is not effective for blonde, red, white or
gray hair.

Hair Reduction Frequently Asked Questions :
Is
hair removal safe?
Laser
hair removal is approved by the FDA and is far less
time consuming and painful than electrolysis, the only
other method of permanent hair removal.
What
can I expect during treatment?
Most
patients feel a warm sting as the laser light penetrates
the hair follicle. A cool gel is applied with the treatment,
and the laser has a cooling unit that is held against
the skin during treatment. Most patients describe the
pulse of laser light as a sensation similar to the snap
of a rubber band against the skin.
How
many treatments are needed?
Treatments
are spaced four to twelve weeks apart, based on growth
cycles. Extensive research has shown three to eight
treatments of the area to achieve long-lasting results.
Treatment time depends on the size of the area involved.
Small areas may only take a few minutes, whereas back
and leg treatments may take an hour.
The average
patient in clinical studies had a 48% reduction in hair
growth after three treatments and an 80% lasting reduction
after six to eight treatments (results vary). After
a series of treatments, the light, fine hair remains.
Most patients require one or two touch-up treatments
per year. Blond, platinum, red and fine vellus hair
will not respond to this treatment.
What
should I expect following treatment?
Once
your treatment is complete you can resume your normal
activities. Some patients experience a mild redness
that resolves in a day or two. Avoid sun exposure and
use an SPF 30 sunblock. Treated hairs will fall out
painlessly over two weeks’ time.
How
much will it cost?
Costs
vary with the size of the treatment area. Consultations
are free. Click here for costs.
